Reminders

Library Books:

We had our first library day today!  Our library day is every day 1 (right now this will be on Tuesday’s). Please enjoy reading your child’s selected book and then return it to school before next Tuesday.

Birthday’s/Celebrations:

If your child has a birthday during the school year/another celebration that you would like to provide a treat for (i.e., Halloween party, End of the year party etc.) we kindly remind you that it must be something store bought, in it’ original packaging with a “no peanuts/tree nuts” label on it as we are a nut free school.

Classroom Donations:

We are always in need of the following items:

Zip-loc bags (small, medium, large)

unscented baby wipes

unscented soap (Soft Soap or generic brand works well for refilling)

paper towel

hand sanitizer

Band-Aids

Plastic spoons and forks

Snacks/Lunches:

Just a friendly reminder that our school encourages litter-less  snacks and lunches.  Where possible, please provide foods in re-usable containers (i.e., yogurt, applesauce etc) rather than individual portions. Please remember that we are a nut free school (this includes Nutella as it contains tree nuts)  and all alternative products (i.e., Wow Butter) should have the sticker so it can be identified easily.

Extra Clothes/Shoes

Please send in a full set of extra fall/winter clothes (i.e., shorts, t-shirts, long pants, long sleeved shirts or sweaters, underwear and socks).  Please remember to label each of your child’s individual item(s) of clothing, and send it in a large Zip-loc bag with your child’s name on it.

In addition to extra clothing, your child will need a pair of indoor shoes. If your child can tie laces, then please feel free to send a laced pair to school. If not, we ask that you send Velcro shoes so that your child can complete this task independently(thus increasing their self confidence/sense of autonomy). Running shoes are best as the children do partake in gym class. Please ensure your child’s shoes are also labelled.

Home Toys:

A reminder that we do not have a regularly scheduled home toy day in our classroom. Instead, we encourage and take time throughout the day to do a “share.” A share is something that a child/group of children have worked hard on and want to share with the group. This encourages cooperation, self regulation, expressive and receptive language and creative and critical thinking skills.

We ask that all home toys are kept at home and not in backpacks unless it is a specified special occasion 🙂
